  Creation of the Avignon-Caumont  Aerodrome.

1948

  1st flight AVIGNON / PARIS in Dakota.

1970

  Government  entrusts  the management of the  Avignon-Caumont  Aerodrome to the Chamber of Commerce and  Industry (ArrĂŞtĂ© d’Occupation Temporaire du 25 mai 1970).

1974 

Tripartite Financial Agreement for investment - Avignon City and  the  General  Council.

1982

  Opening of the passenger  line  AVIGNON / LYON / PARIS and freight lines by Air Jet with bi-turbo props Fokker 27.

1988  

Launching of the passenger line AVIGNON / PARIS under the flag of Air Inter with a Fokker 28 Jet with 65 seats.

1989 / 1990  

Launching, by T.N.T. company, of the line "Fret International" AVIGNON / LYON / BALE / MULHOUSE / COLOGNE,  ensured  daily by a 4 jet BAE 146.

 

Construction of the new Control Tower  and  the  Flying Club Vauclusien buildings.

1990

 Extension of the air terminal.

 

Replacement of F28 with a FOKKER 100 with 109 seats, after  the suppression of the  Northern  bound  limit.

 

Obtaining of an exemption from the Civil Aviation Authority to use this device.

1992  

Replacing  of the Fokker 27 by a BAE 146 on the Air Jet freight line (doubling  the capacity) – January –.

 

Suspension of the AVIGNON / COLOGNE international freight line.

1994  

Departure of Air Jet – Suspension of the AVIGNON / PARIS freight line – August –.

1995  

Opening of the AVIGNON / CHERBOURG line by the Chalair company.

1997  

Completion of the extension of the runway to the North (200 meters), reaching 1880 meters.

 

Opening of the transversal lines by Proteus Airlines, via the Hub of St-Etienne with a 20 seater (two rotations per day).

1998  

Creation of an custom-made airline – transport on request : Transport'Air.  

 

The Football World Cup generates additional passenger traffic (+36%).

 

The air traffic control closes between 23 h and  6 h after staff reduction by Civil Aviation.

 

Two freight airlines are obliged to suspend their operations. 

 

Rerouting of the RN7 to the south of the runway reducing aeronautic restrictions.

1999  

Proteus makes a Fokker 100 available for use by Air France AVIGNON / PARIS / AVIGNON link.

 

Land acquisition to the south of the airport moving the 35 Ăź limit, gaining 200 m landing space.

 

Renewal of the Temporary Occupancy Permit in favour of the CCI until September 2000.

2000  

Enlarging and resurfacing of the runway in April and May 2000.

 

Extension of the commercial car park.

2001  

 Validation of the Joint Trade Union.

 2004  

  Inauguration of the VIP Lounge dedicated to Business Aviation.

 

Meeting of the Tourism Group launching an action plan for the opening of international lines.

2005  

 Extension and rearranging of the air terminal.

 

Construction of the SSLIA fire-station.

 

Moving the fuel depot.

 

Announcing the opening of thefirst international line.

2006  

Opening of thefirst international line Avignon/Southampton with the airline Flybe – aircraft Dash 8 400.

2007  

 Opening of the line Avignon/Exeter – airline Flybe, Launching of the test programme Avignon/Edimbourg with the airline Jet2.
Airport becomes property of PACA Regional Council - 1st March.

2008   



2009  
 

Construction of two new departure halls, Opening of the lines Avignon/Edinburgh and Avignon/Leeds with the airline Jet2 – Boeing 737-300.
Ceasing of the line Avignon/Paris by the Air France group July 2008, despite traffic of more than 71.000 passagers and the  line showing a slight increase.
PACA Regional Council confers operation of Airport to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a period of 7 years.
Inauguration of the brand new VIP Lounge dedicated to Business Aviation.
